I’ll admit it: I wasn’t born with snow in my DNA.
I’m an Indo. Brown. Tropical at heart.
I love warmth, spicy food, and showering until the bathroom turns into a steamy jungle.
And yet… there I was. In Finland. On cross-country skis. In a white forest.

🎿 First Time on Skis

Cross-country skiing – for most Finns, it’s as normal as biking is in the Netherlands.
But for me? It felt like I had accidentally signed up for the Winter Olympics in an alternate dimension.

And you know what?
I did it.
No falls. No chaos.
Just gliding. Breathing. Moving through freezing air like a Viking with sambal running through his veins

❄️ A Striking Contrast

  • The snow: white
  • My face: red from the cold
  • My pride: warm

Because honestly —
how often do you see a brown Indo gliding through the Finnish wilderness like he’s been doing it for years?
Exactly. Not often. But it’s possible!

🧠 Moral of the Story

It’s good to challenge yourself.
To do things that aren’t in your comfort zone.
And especially: to celebrate the moment when you surprise yourself.

✅ Conclusion

I didn’t move to Finland to become an athlete.
But today, I proved that even an Indo from the Netherlands can hold his own on snow.
And that, dear reader, feels like gold to me.

🔁 Next Time:

My dog loves the snow too.
He’s brown as well. Together, we glide through the Finnish winter like a tropical duo.
